This book has really good explanations on several mental health issues like depression, anxiety and also goes into anger and how to control them. There are different forms of exercises to help cope with them, both mental and physical. This book is a great book to help teens deal with these issues. Even if a teen is not diagnosed with any major mental health, this book is a great tool to help both parents and teens.
A powerful, compassionate guide that speaks directly to today’s overwhelmed teens and the adults who support them. Practical strategies, engaging visuals, and a hands-on workbook turn stress into confidence. This book is so well thought out, and well written! I have read some self-help books and they end up becoming redundant and don’t actually help much. Then It gives actual helpful suggestions on how to get through and overcome those situations. There is so much good information in here I will have to read it again. Great tool for parents. This would help children be able to sort their feelings and emotions.
Easy read and lots of information I will be getting a couple for my teens
This book has a lot of problems. First, it’s filled with grammatical errors. It has misspelled words, run-on sentences, and other issues. The author also sometimes uses words that are difficult for teen readers (e.g., keenly, paradoxically, encapsulates). The author also doesn’t seem to know who her audience is. The book sometimes talks directly to teens, and at other times it talks directly to the parents of teens. The audience shifts back and forth. I even found one place where the author tells teens to do breathing exercises in their “office.” Someone should probably explain to the author that teens usually don’t have offices. Sometimes I would read entire passages, and I would be like, “What did I just read?” I would have to go back and read it again to try to understand it.
This book helps with people that problems lime me i have food disorder and now stop eating alot of after reading this book I would recommend it to anyone who struggles with things going on in their life
Wow, this book is seriously a life changer. Not even just for my pre-teen (12) that I bought it for, but myself as well for all of the things I was not taught when I was younger. From anger & depression, to regulation this book covers it all with factual information that is easy for pre-teens, teens, and adults to understand. I highly recommend it for ages 12 and up, if you have a younger child I would recommend looking into the books that are for sale on Amazon for their age.

Although the book is created for teens there are so many skills in this book that can be applied to adults of all ages as well. There are a few parts throughout the book where the author differentiates how some issues look with a teenager vs with adults which I found very helpful. I also enjoyed at the end of each chapter the excersizes were listed so that you can easily find them again. The excersizes are easy to do as long as you’re consistent and able to dedicate the time. Something to note is how the author mentions many aspects of a teenagers life school, family, friendships, etc. I liked how the author addresses each of these aspects throughout the book and details how the coping skills could help them. I really like how the author went into detail about breathing exercises and how that help your overall health. My favorite chapter was the self care chapter that went over how vital self care is for everyone and especially teens. I definitely plan on reviewing the exercises in that chapter. The author adds in her own struggles as well through the chapters which make the book feel more personable.

This book would be really helpful for teens dealing with the ups and downs of being a teen. It's got relatable examples, practical advice, and exercises that help you take charge of stress, anxiety, and anger.
Not many books can capture my attention in the first few pages. However, this book immediately grabbed my interest. Even though I am not in the intended age group for this work, the content still resonates strongly because of my dealings with anxiety. We all navigate our fair share of challenges during adolescence. And responses to those pressures vary. Some master it more adeptly than others. I, however, have always struggled with anxiety. Throughout my teenage years, I grappled with these challenges without support. That led to continual struggle until the present time. I am still learning to manage those anxieties. Admittedly, even as a young girl, I enjoyed reading. But I never truly ventured out to read for self-improvement. Times have changed. After immersing myself in this material, I have experienced many moments of clarity. The applicable exercises have helped me to understand the root of my anxieties and develop skills to manage them better. If only I had discovered this book in my youth. I believe that I would have developed solid coping strategies, making my path to healing more navigable. But as they say, it's better late than never. And now I believe it would be even more instrumental as a resource to help navigate my younger child when he begins to encounter the challenges of adolescence. I highly recommend this book to anyone who suffers anxiety but especially for parents of teens.
This book is very thorough and well organized like a textbook, but it is easier to read. It might be a bit too academic for a teen to find interest in it, but either way, it has everything a teen would need to cope and overcome teen struggles. It's also great for adults. The step by step exercises are very helpful as well.
This book can be an amazing resource for any teen who is struggling to cope with stressors of life. I also found the section of how to find adults trust worthy adults to face their problems together.

What's really helpful are the real-life examples and straightforward exercises he can actually use. Seeing him take these lessons to heart and become more resilient has been pretty rewarding. Honestly, it’s straightforward enough that any teen could benefit from it, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who works with teens or has one in their life.
I like how this book acknowledges what teens can go and went through. Instead of dismissing it, reading this book felt like validation to the stress, anxiety and other negative emotions. Being a teenager is difficult, so you will definitely need a guide or someone who will be there to figure out how to cope. This has full of insights, and explanations are simple to understand. I also appreciate the emphasis of self awareness or mindfulness, it plays a vital role in coping up. There should be an acceptance, knowing what you feel and express it properly. I am glad this book exist. Highly recommended.
This book is a fantastic mental health resource not only for teens but for adults as well. The author explains the various bases of her theories—such as cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies—in a tone that is casual and easy for the average reader to understand. The book offers kind sympathy to those suffering from the debilitating illnesses of depression and anxiety, and it provides explanation as to why some people endure these experiences. Then, readers receive practical advice about how to change their viewpoints even in the face of extreme trauma, numerous environmental stressors, etc. in order to cope in much healthier ways. I particularly like the fact that drug therapy is hardly mentioned; while there is certainly nothing wrong with prescription drugs, I believe they are relied upon too heavily by many mental health practitioners today. I much prefer this book’s approach of—initially, anyway—addressing issues with diet, physical activity, daily habits, and self-care.
As a woman with anxiety that struggled through her teenage years with the unknown and what-ifs, I wish I had found this book sooner. Even now, I'm 23 and not having children (yet!), but I just know understanding myself and the world around us will be so helpful to a kid living it for the first time. Being a teenager comes with so many outside battles, they shouldn't have to battle themselves too. This book provides some good stuff I learned in therapy - and for a lot less!

The author Emma Davis gave some great information and did a lot of research, She made it easy to understand in order to teach teens good coping skills to deal with things that happen. In this world kids need to be taught coping skills as a part of dealing with life. As a special education teacher I am definitely interested in using these items I have learned to teach the kids I work with this. I hope to hear more from the author in other books. I feel like these types of books should be in school counselor rooms, as it would be a great resource for those in that field. This book is very inclusive of the many emotions and tolls teenagers have to face. I like how there are key takeaways and exercises for readers to practice. However, I do not think teens will sit down and read this if the pages are so bland and unalluring. Some color, pictures, and differences in font would make a difference. It reads like a regular book, which is not to say it’s bad, but if I was a teenager, I would not be compelled to sit and read it.

It has certainly given me new strategies and perspectives to consider in my own life.
As a mental health advocate, I try to always have books in my toolkit to recommend to others as when it comes to mental health it never helps to gather an understanding about mental health wellness as early as possible. Above that are healthy coping methods. This book details both in judgement free manner. There is science to back it up and personal testaments detailed as well. The book also takes conditions such as ADHD and Autism into consideration which is refreshing to see in literature. In a world of heightened stress, I this book belongs on both your shelf and kindle. I think this is not only great for teens but those in their 20's as well.
No matter how old you are, coping and mastering emotions is something we all can struggle with. There’s some much emotionally charged energy around these days, and learning how to channel these emotions to the right things is the key to being successful and keeping happy. I don’t have it all figured out, but I know there are many valuable lessons from this book that will help get me on the right track. I definitely recommend this.
I resonated very well with this book. It was great advice and is actually something I wished I had read when I was a teenager, but even so it has helped me a lot right now. I think this is a book everyone should read to give themselves a better peace of mind. I think understanding and coping with your emotions is such a big thing that everyone needs to learn to have a better mental health. Life is so difficult and there's always so much going on that sometimes our emotions get ahead of us, but this book has really put into perspective of how one feels the way they do. Highly recommend this for everyone!
This was such a great book! As someone who works in the educational field, I have a firsthand experience working with teens. Many teens just don’t have the coping capacities to deal with their changing lives, let alone deal with stressful situations. All of these are a normal part of life, anxieties, stress, anger and even happy emotions and adrenaline. This book provides techniques and tips, strategies and suggestions for your teen or young person to deal. I recommend this book, it will certainly be in my repertoire!
This is a great book for teens, and parents alike, to read. This easy to read guide addresses issues that teens face on a daily basis, and helps parents to help their teen through these challenging times. The advice is practical and comprehensive. The author uses language that is relatable to teens and makes them feel like they are not alone in their most formative years. What I really liked about this book is the explanation of why the teenager is feeling the way they are feeling. The author explains the different parts of the brain as the teen develops. One of my favorite things about this book, is the emphasis on mindfulness. Self-awareness is a huge part of maturity, and I feel like the author really understands this. Overall, I would recommend this book!
The book is thoughtfully structured, balancing theoretical insights with actionable advice, making it both an engaging read and a valuable resource. One of the standout features of this book is its relatability. Davis writes in a conversational and empathetic tone, which resonates well with her teenage audience. She acknowledges the unique challenges that come with adolescence, from academic pressures to social dynamics, and provides tailored coping mechanisms to address these. Each chapter delves into different aspects of emotional well-being, such as mindfulness, self-compassion, and effective communication, offering exercises and reflections that encourage readers to apply what they've learned to their own lives.
As an uncle, I've seen my nephew struggle with academic pressures and social media stress. This book provided valuable strategies to help him manage his anxiety and understand his emotions. The practical examples and exercises were especially helpful for him.
I love how books like this get personal with the readers. In the introduction the author shares a little bit about their experiences with the readers to make them feel like they’re not alone. They empathize with them on a personal level. It also helps them realize that everyone goes through a stressful time, especially as a teenager and that they are new to learning how to cope with them. The book is easily broken up into categories so the readers don’t have a difficult time navigating the information. There is also some great tips such as exercises for the readers to try out to help them cope.
